Soong Ching Ling, one of the founders of the New China, is the honorable Chairman of our country and the founder of the China Welfare Institute. She is one of the greatest women of the twentieth century. She dedicated herself to the culture, education and welfare of women and children. She also worked to establish an independent, democratic, peaceful and prosperous new China. Madame Soong Ching Ling's love for China and humanistic spirit are carried on by generations of our people.
The China Welfare Institute was founded in 1938 by Madame Soong and has adhered to the firm belief of “always standing side by side with CCP”. It has carried out experimental and demonstrative work in the fields of maternal and child health care, school curriculum and extra-curriculum activities, children's culture development and social welfare. The institute plays an essential role in striving for the welfare of women and children, promoting the reunification of the nation and maintaining world peace and development.
For more than 80 years, China Welfare Institute(CWI) has carried forward the thought of Madame Soong Ching Ling and adhered to the high-quality service for women and children.Based in Shanghai,it strives to become an internationally recognized institute, which provides the society with maternal and child health care,school education, extra-curriculum activities, welfare for the elderly, public funds, among others. The Soong Ching Ling Scholarship, Soong Ching Ling Camphor Award, Soong Ching Ling Early Childhood Education Award and the Shanghai International Children's Art Festival established and issued by CWI have become well-known brands nationwide.
