Growing Problem-Solvers as a Community

A Morning of Coffee and Collaboration

Our SCLS Primary School International Division recently hosted its very first Parent Coffee Talk, bringing together around 50 parents for a morning of learning, conversation, and connection. The session was designed to support parents in helping their children develop strong problem-solving skills, while also creating a space for sharing ideas and experiences within our school community.

Titled “Guiding Your Child to Be a Successful Problem-Solver,” the event began with a relaxed arrival period, where parents enjoyed coffee and refreshments while catching up with friends old and new. This set the stage for a collaborative and engaging session.

One highlight of the session was its interactive approach. Parents were able to share their thoughts, take part in group discussions, and explore strategies they could use at home to support their children’s problem-solving development. These activities sparked meaningful conversations and allowed parents to learn not only from the facilitators, but also from one another. The willingness to share ideas and experiences created a strong sense of community in the room. The event ended with a short Q&A and the attendees were invited to give their feedback about the session and their ideas for future discussion topics via survey.

Special thanks to the IT Tech Team, Principal Dr. Pitre and the administration team, and the PSID office staff for their support, and especially to all the parents who joined us.

We look forward to offering more Parent Coffee Talks next school year to support and build strong connections across our entire learning community!
