There must be a special connection between us which gathers us here. It might be some special fate or expectation of education. We welcome everyone to visit our official website and learn about the origins of the school, our educational philosophy, future vision and the legend we are creating.
In 1907, as one of the four Chinese girls officially sent overseas by the Qing Government,14-year-old Soong Ching Ling set off from Shanghai and entered Wesleyan Female College in Georgia, USA for education. She dedicated herself to the welfare of women and children, as well as the cause of world peace ever since.
A hundred years later, Soong Ching Ling School was born, inheriting the lifelong belief, philosophy and mission of “Give Children the Most Valuable Things” from Madame Soong Ching Ling.
She firmly believed that the best quality of mankind is “love”. Love is the highest priority in education. Our school motto is to“Foster excellence in yourself and others, and build a better world,” which carries forward the philanthropic thought of Madame Soong. In our school, there are no strict boundaries between teachers and students, or teaching and learning. Instead, it is interactions, exchanges and integration that count. Everyone here is accustomed to introspection and doing it themselves before asking others. “Foster excellence in yourself and others” means to abound, enrich and nourish oneself before guiding, affecting and promoting others. Its essence is the respect, consideration, care and love among people. What pervades everywhere in the school is the self-consciousness, kindness and the awe of nature and life. Children who have long been immersed in such an environment and culture can gain a sense of security, vitality and happiness which will provide them with lifelong support. Meanwhile, they are given a broad vision, an open mind and the love for mankind.
The aspiration and creativity derived from "To Give Children the Most Valuable Things" also lies in cherishing the uniqueness of each individual and helping each individual reach their full potential. Our school comprises primary, middle and high schools, which means every child spends all his childhood and adolescence here. It is a period when one can generate infinite possibilities. When he is surrounded by love, respect and appreciation every day, and when his self-esteem, curiosity and desire for exploration are cared for, he will grow up to be a warrior who is not afraid of failure, constantly challenges himself and tries his utmost to fulfill the dream.“When I stepped out of the school, I heard a voice in my mind that told me to be loyal to my soul. A truly powerful person tries hard when he encounters frustrations and failures even with tears in his eyes,” said one of the high school graduate students.
Madame Soong Ching Ling is a great pioneer in the cause of defending world peace in the twentieth century. Our school has inherited her ideas of international pacifism, created an open and diverse educational pattern, and been committed to cultivating those who strive to build a better world. Faculty and students come from more than 30 countries worldwide. They have different races, cultures and beliefs but they accompany each other all day long in the same place, doing the same thing and with the same ideal. Children have learned how to understand, respect, tolerate and appreciate each other over time in the school. They have also learned to abandon stereotypes for the same goal, magnify their common ground, seek common ground while reserving differences, and seek love and understanding when encountering conflicts.
