The 9th International Art Festival of Soong Ching Ling School was successfully held at the Shanghai Grand Theatre on June 6th，2019. It was kicked off with more than 700 students from over 30 countries and areas singing the same song “My motherland and I, cannot be separated even for a moment, No matter where I go, I always sing a song of praise……”
This year, we are celebrating the 70th anniversary of People’s Republic of China and the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Shanghai. Students took Art Festival as an opportunity to reproduce the dramatic Chinese history of the past 70 years through various art forms and express their hopes for a better China and peaceful world.

Draw Us Close to History
As the first performance of Art Festival, A New Era Is Dawning portrayed the historical events of PLA liberating Shanghai without using any heavy weapons through a fusion of drama and dance. It was followed by performances of Welcome the New Era with Dancing and Drumming and The Morning in the Alleys which depicted the scene of Shanghai people celebrating and enjoying the peaceful life after liberation.

Development, Changes, Collision and Prosperity
Through various art performances of different history backgrounds, students showed the dramatic life changes of Shanghai people in the past 70 years after liberation. The fusion of eastern and western culture in the performances such as Chinese and western students singing Shanghai dialect together, Hip-hop in Han Chinese clothing, traditional Pipa performance mixed with electric guitar as well as Chinese waist drum, Peking opera, dragon dance, Latin dance and Jazz music, all these combinations brought an inspirational experience to our audiences.
Look Into the Future
Eternal Pursuit of Peace and Love
The last scene of Art Festival, Long Live our Motherland told the story of a rocket expert father and his son. Thanks to millions of diligent people who worked so hard just like this father, today we can enjoy our peaceful life. Students expressed their salute to all the workers and sincerely wished for a better future.
Together with the stage performance, Soong Ching Ling School students also prepared an art exhibition themed Shanghai, Time and Vitality at the Grand Theater Lobby. Various paintings showed the old memories and the new looks of Shanghai city, as well as the students' pursuit of peace and love.
Soong Ching Ling School Art Festival is a great opportunity for students to learn how our revolutionary heroes sacrificed themselves for today's peace, and how millions of people working diligently to make our country prosperous and keep us from war. Through Art Festival, students enhanced their emotional acceptance of Chinese history and culture，strengthened their sense of responsibility to be the future master of our country.
