前言
每年2月21日是世界母语日(International Mother Language Day)。语言是保存和发展人类有形和无形遗产的最有力的工具。联合国教科文组织设定国际母语日的目的是为了帮助人们了解世界各民族母语文化的现状,推动语言及文化的多元发展。这一纪念日旨在理解、宽容与对话的基础上帮助人们进一步加深对各国母语及文化传统的认识。
今年世界母语日前夕,国际部中学开学后第一场师生集会上,6-8年级共有27位同学获得“国际部中学第一届古诗文知识卡牌设计大赛 优秀作品奖”。
February 21st is International Mother Language Day. The day established by UNESCO is to help people understand different languages worldwide and promote linguistic and cultural diversity development. It also helps to deepen our knowledge of mother languages and cultural traditions based on understanding and dialog, as language is the most powerful tool for preserving and developing humanity's tangible and intangible heritage.
On the eve of World Mother Language Day this year, 27 students from grades 6-8 won the "Excellent Work Award" in the first "SCLS IDMS CHINESE TRADITIONAL CULTURE TRIVIA DESIGN COMPETITION" at the first assembly of the new semester.

这些作品有的清新典雅,水墨渲染出江南水乡的温婉,“春水碧于天,画船听雨眠”;有的热烈活泼,火红的色彩勾勒出浓浓年味,“爆竹声中一岁除,春风送暖入屠苏”;有的绚丽夺目,关不住满园春色,“芳草鲜美,落英缤纷”。
每一份作品都凝结着孩子们的智慧、创意与文化审美。它们如同一首首意蕴深长的诗歌,浸蕴瑰丽的传统古韵,缓缓地流淌着。
谈起这次活动,同学们个个都有话说:
Some of these works are fresh and elegant, rendering the gentle charm of the water towns with ink wash painting; some are lively and passionate, with fiery colors depicting a solid festive atmosphere; some are splendid and dazzling, containing vibrant colors of spring.
Each piece of work embodies childhood wisdom, creativity, and cultural aesthetics. They are like profound poems, imbued with exquisite traditional charm, flowing slowly.
When talking about this event, all the students had something to say:
制作卡牌的时候很有趣,画画时需要发挥自己的想象力。在课堂上比赛的时候,感觉同学们的原创题目很有挑战性。
Making cards is very interesting. When drawing, you need to use your imagination. During the competition in class, the content of the questions was very challenging and sparked my desire to win.

卡牌设计:文化浸润与审美体验的创新融合
Designing Cards: consolidate the fusion of knowledge and the innovation of aesthetical creation
古诗文学习一直是宋庆龄学校国际部中学中文母语课程中的重点内容。如何让孩子们学得好、记得住,并通过古诗文的学习加强文化与身份认同,一直是中文教研组在实践中不断探索的课题。
今年寒假,国际部中学中文组将原本初中中文母语课程中的“寒假古诗文家庭默写作业”升级成为“第一届古诗文知识卡牌设计大赛”。设计活动时采取了“一加一减”两大原则:减的是学生的负担,加的是学习志趣。
学生根据上学期所学的古诗词与古文,进行自主命题。在寒假里,学生们将传统古风元素与现代创意巧妙融合,穿越历史长河,浸润在博大精深的中华文化中。
The study of ancient poetry and prose has always been the critical content of the Chinese mother tongue curriculum in the middle school of the International Division of Soong Ching Ling School. How to help children learn well, remember them, and strengthen their culture and identity through studying ancient poetry and prose has always been a topic that the Chinese group has constantly been exploring in practice.
During the winter vacation this year, the Chinese group of SCLS ID MS upgraded the original "Winter Holiday Ancient Poetry and Prose Homework Dictation Homework" to the first "SCLS IDMS CHINESE TRADITIONAL CULTURE TRIVIA DESIGN COMPETITION" and organized all Chinese mother tongue students in grades 6-8 to participate.

学习交流与成果分享:激发学生自主学习的热情
The outcome measure of competitions in class: Stimulating the enthusiasm of students’ autonomous learning
开学第一周,同学们在中文课上以小组形式举行了“古诗文知识卡牌游戏大赛”。本次竞赛以小组为单位,分为3-4人一组。每组设定一位得分记录员,一位题目朗读员,小组轮流依次答题;人数较多的班级,则以小组为单位进行卡牌轮换,以确保每位同学完成尽量多的卡牌。
在活动过程中,每个同学都积极参与,并热情地开展组内互助:有的同学自信满满、沉着镇定地道出答案,引得其他同学纷纷投来赞许的目光;有的同学露出疑惑的神情,仍尽全力尝试回答,热烈的欢呼声为他响起;有的同学急着抢答,却不小心说错答案,组内同学热心地替他解围;其他参赛小组也在观赛时对公布的题目激烈讨论,整个课堂好不热闹!在竞赛后,精选题目被编入各年级第一学期的《古诗文知识整理题库》,用于第一次阶段性评估及日常课前三分钟“暖身练习”。交流与分享的课堂气氛,让学生们感受到了竞争和合作的双重乐趣,更收获了学习的快乐和友谊。
In the first week of school, the students held a card game during Chinese class. The class was divided into groups of 3-4 people. Each group is assigned a score recorder and a question reader. The groups take turns answering questions. For classes with more students, cards will be rotated in groups to ensure that each student answers as many cards as possible. The total score of the card competition shall be added to the “learning habit” category, in the form of bonus points.
In the process of the activity, every student actively participated and enthusiastically helped other students in the group. The other teams were also watching the competition to discuss the announced questions on cards. Everyone in the class was very lively! After the competition, the selected questions were compiled into the “Ancient Poetry and Prose knowledge Arrangement Question Bank”, which was used for the first Chinese assessment of the semester and the daily 3-minute warm-up exercise before every Chinese class.

致宋校国际部:
这次语文学科布置了卡牌游戏设计比赛,让歆恩兴致勃勃,寒假的第一天就着手开始设计制作。一个下午的时间就看桌上放了两张跟课文相关的主题插画,“哇~这是你做的吗?”我不仅惊讶地问。歆恩喜孜孜地说:“对呀,正面是画和主题,后面是题目,答案我要用隐形墨水写上,到时用灯一照就可以看到啦!”我暗自心想这创意真不错,她还挺有想法的。一张张的手绘着实非常费时费工,第二天我们去附近打印店挑选了艺术用纸,并裁剪好老师要求的尺寸,接下去的一周就看歆恩全身心的投入在卡牌游戏的制作之中。
看着孩子能这么积极地去完成老师布置的作业,我感到非常惊喜又欣慰。这次卡牌游戏制作既激发了孩子的想象力、创造力、又促进了孩子的动手能力,把想法付诸于实物,更让孩子在制作的过程中把一学期的文言文扎扎实实地复习巩固了一遍,卡牌游戏制作比赛本身就是一个非常有创意和有意义的活动。
The Chinese language department arranged a card game design competition that excited Xinen. She started designing and making cards on the first day of winter vacation. In just an afternoon, she had drawn two theme illustrations related to the text on the table. "Wow, did you do this?" I asked in amazement. Xinen replied enthusiastically, "Yes, the front is the drawing and theme, the back has the questions, and I will write the answers with invisible ink. When you shine a light, you can see it!" I secretly thought that this idea was excellent and that she had a lot of pictures. I had never used invisible ink before, so Xinen demonstrated it. I felt it was amazing, haha. Drawing each card by hand was very time-consuming, and we went to a nearby print shop the next day to choose art paper and cut it to size required by the teacher. The following week, Xinen devoted herself wholeheartedly to making the card game. Seeing my child so actively completing the homework assigned by the teacher, I felt shocked and pleased. This card game design competition stimulated the children's imagination, creativity, and practical abilities and allowed them to review and consolidate the ancient Chinese language they had learned during the semester. The card game design competition itself is a very creative and meaningful activity.

在过去,寒假里会布置古诗文的家默作业,虽然该项作业对于夯实基础很有成效,但形式不免单一,部分学生兴趣缺缺,也不乏抄一遍“糊弄过去”的现象。今年初中中文组的“古诗文卡牌游戏设计大赛”,能得到孩子们的喜爱,老师们也觉得特别开心。封校长曾经对我们老师说过:“每一个学生都是独特的存在,一个关注孩子独特发展的课程体系就是一个充满爱的课程,必将唤醒孩子的内在潜力,让每个孩子都能够得到发展。”这一次的课程活动设计正式对这一教学理念的实践——此次活动中同学们通过自主命题、卡牌设计、课堂小组竞赛等一系列活动,巩固了对上一学期已学习过的古诗文的记忆与理解,提高了学习积极性与主动性;更在感受中国传统古诗文魅力的同时,加强了对中国文化和审美的认同与积淀。
"In the past, during winter vacation, homework on ancient poetry and prose was assigned to students. Though it effectively strengthens the foundation, students would feel it's monotonous and lack interest. This year, the competition for middle school Chinese classes was popular among students, and teachers were pleased. After the event, we also conducted an in-class test, and students proposed all the questions. From what we see from the first test, students made significant progress in dictation. The data still needs to be tracked continuously. Still, undoubtedly, through a series of activities such as independent propositions, card design, and competitions by groups in class, students consolidated their understanding of what they had learned in the previous semester and improved their learning enthusiasm and initiative. It also strengthens the recognition and accumulation of Chinese culture and aesthetics.

The successful holding of the first "SCLS IDMS CHINESE TRADITIONAL CULTURE TRIVIA DESIGN COMPETITION" highlights the excellent literacy of Chinese traditional literature and culture and the unlimited creativity of the students of Soong Ching Ling School International Division. In new semesters, the Chinese Department will cooperate with the English, Spanish, and French departments to bring children more diverse and integrated activities to promote the understanding and development of multi-cultures.
