March 1st, 2017, is an unforgettable day for Soong Ching Ling School. Mr. Yao Ming, the newly elected Chairman of the China Basketball Association, and Madame Zhao Danni, the Vice Chairman of China Welfare Institute, have unveiled the Soong Ching Ling Forum. As our esteemed guest speaker, Mr. Yao Ming delivered a wonderful speech entitled “Interest Is the Best Teacher.”Cong Xuedi, another famous Chinese basketball player，former leader of Chinese Women's Basketball team and special adviser to the SCLS basketball program, joined today's opening ceremony as well.
Yao Ming mentioned that if you do what you like, time will fly very quickly, otherwise, one hour will seem like a whole day.
According to Yao Ming, we need to open our minds to understand the things that we don’t like but must do. We should be open to considering that doing these things could benefit us.
“Our whole life is a series of choices. We will be growing up while we make our decisions. Only by following our interests and by making correct choices, will we not have regrets in the future,” Yao Ming said to our students.
With the opportunity to be face to face with Mr. Yao Ming, SCLS students are deeply amazed by their beloved “Uncle Ming”. We love his Eastern humility and Western humor, admire his persistence and perseverance when pursuing his dreams, and respect his true love for our country and responsibility to the world. After listening to Yao Ming’s speech, we believe that our students will learn to think and ask themselves, “What do I really like?”, “How can I make good choices about my life?”
The Houston Rockets commentator once said: "Yao Ming, who can sit together with the king, can also walk together with common people. He used his actions to make a lot of people's lives better." Every moment of today’s event will promote growth. Everyone is inspired by Yao Ming’s true love for our country, his devotion to the community and society.

Here at Soong Ching Ling School, we look forward to more great people from various fields walking onto our campus, to broaden our students’ vision, to enlighten our students’ mind.
