The 2020 Annual Sports Carnival of SCLS Domestic Division was held successfully on campus. Here are some segments and touching moments from the Carnival.
At a corner on the playground, a G6 girl was weeping over the loss in tug-of-war game. ‘It’s ok, you did your best.’ The PE teacher tried to cheer her up. With the encouragement from classmates and teachers, the girl bounced back shortly and joined another game.
The sports carnival of DDMS started with a parade, in which all the classes prepared various performances from cheerleading, Kungfu to basketball-dribbling, which were all designed and practiced by students themselves. Not like other grades, all seventh graders participated in the parade performance. It’s really a cool and exciting experience for everyone!
A lot of fun games were introduced to the carnival, such as Cross the River, Caterpillar Race, Bamboo Pole Race and Tug of War. Not like those traditional competitive ones, these games require a strong teamwork rather than personal skills which would help them to learn the importance of team spirit and sportsmanship.
At the interval, Mr. Miao Kai, a former professional gymnast, performed a brilliant ad-lib by mixing gymnastics with dance. Continuous outburst of cheers and applause from the students and teachers showed their love to Mr. Miao’s great performance.
All DDPS students were divided into two groups, lower grades and higher grades. Each had a wonderful sports afternoon respectively. All games were divided into three categories: big group games, small team games and individual games.
n the big group game, all students and teachers from different grades and classes were randomly divided into four teams: Red, Yellow, Blue and Green. They played various games including Pig Roll, Obstacle Course, Kangaroo Hop and etc. At last, the winner was determined by the total scores each team achieved. The games require various physical skills, including running, jumping, throwing etc. These are very comprehensive physical exercises for everyone.
Individual’s 50-meter dash offered an opportunity for every student to enjoy running and competing with others. The 4 × 50m relay is most exciting, the whole playground bustling with cheers and excitement.
The competitions among the high school students drew most attentions. There is no way to tell who would win the game until the last minute because the surprise always came at the end. In the basketball shooting competition, a girl hit the game-winning shot and won the game at the last seconds. Students also witnessed a dramatic turn in the Tug-of-War at the very last moment which almost took everyone’s breath away.
As all sports game, there are always failure as well as victory. We believe the carnival is more a learning process. The values we gained through collaboration and competition will have a long-lasting impact on every SCLSer.
